Mustang rear end interchange

I have a 2005 mustang GT that's a manual. My rear axles spring perch on one side is rusting out pretty bad. Instead of trying to weld something on there that may not be any good, I'm looking to swap my rear end. As far as I can tell it's the 8.8" 3.55 axle. From 1979-1985 Mustang's came with the 7.5" rear. Up until 2011, the 7.5" was factory for everything without a V8. The 8.8" rear was the differential of choice for the V8 engines (4.6, 5.0, and the 5.4). After 2011 the 3.7L V6 and the Coyote powered Mustangs shared the 8.8". The only 8 inch Axle housing with 5 Lugs that is a direct bolt in for your car using all the factory stock parts is one from a 1964 1/2, 1965, or 1966 Mustang V8. All years of the 8 inch third members (center section) are the same bolt pattern to the housing, also have the same piñon offset, and stock they are all 28 spline.The Ford Explorer used it until it switched to an independent rear suspension in 2002. Remove the 4 bolts from the driveshaft. Then the lca's, shocks, springs will just drop out. You will retain the sn lower control arms with the new edge rear. The front lower control arm bolt is the one that is bigger on the new edge. This is not correct.
